Time: approx. 7.30 am

Location: Cheviot, near Waiau River, North Canterbury, South Island

Features/characteristics: disc-shaped object reflecting sunlight

Description:

Duration of sighting: 20 seconds

The witness observed an airborne disc-shaped object over farmland, reflecting the morning sunlight, which was rising behind the witness. He described the object as being approximately 30-40 metres in diameter, and it was hovering around 200 metres above a small hill.  The object shot off at “tremendous speed” to the west and towards a mountain range.

Location: between Foxton and Himitangi, Horowhenua/Manawatu, North Island

Features/characteristics: A series of multi-coloured lights

Description:

Duration of sighting approx. 20-30 seconds.  The weather was clear, but low light conditions.

The witness was driving between Foxton and Himitangi in the early morning hours when he saw an airborne object heading south, low and passing over shelter belt trees. He estimated its speed as akin to a fast car or small aircraft speed – perhaps around 150 kph.  There was a line of very bright lights on an object, coloured bright white, yellow, green, peach/pink.  After each light flashed, there was a slight pause, and then the pattern would repeat.  The witness first noticed the lights in his peripheral vision and pulled over to the side of the road to watch them until they were out of sight to the south.

Location: Titahi Bay, Porirua, North Island

Features/characteristics: disc-shaped object

Description:

Duration of sighting: 5 minutes. Clear conditions, but a few scattered clouds.

The witness observed a fast-moving object move into his vision between his property on the beach and Mana Island.  The object came to a sudden standstill and hovered, roughly at small aircraft altitude. He described it as a circular disc, with a turning/rotating section and red and green lights.  The object hovered for a few seconds, then disappeared as if into thin air.
